...that he's finally out of the limelight.. before it struck home how actually horrific this whole thing was, i cracked a joke about how much gary condit paid to have those two planes rammed into the wtc, just to get himself out of the top news story spot.... i apologized to the person i made the comment to, and still feel guilty.

i have not been posting here for long and i am trying to get a "feel" for the makup of the group.

i thought about telling my story in the personal experiances area but chickened out.

i have noticed that the majority of the posters here are xjw's but there seem to be a few active jw's.

Good question, and one that you'll find handy for taunting the dubs when they go on a theocratic fit with you.

I was raised a Dub and was in thru mid 20's. I left about a quarter of a century ago. I'm an old, angry, insane apostate atheist and proud of it. Except for the "old" part, that is. Old sucks.

Stick around! Post messages! Tell fred Hall his litter box is so full of it. There's a lot of nice people here with a variety of views. Even Fred Hall can be amusing (if you drop a bunch of XTC first).

i just want to share this observation with some of you if i may.

its a bit revealing about who i am, but since i dont have much to loose at this point (the big df is only a matter of time) so i think will risk revealing some identifying info about myself.

also i have a book that will soon be out concerning some of the clandestine work i did for the federal government (kgb, hackers, fbi, secret service), some real neat stuff that i can now talk about.

First let me say that I want to see the people responsible for terrorism DEAD.

Having said that, I'll confess to being naive. I think that human beings anywhere on earth are essentially the same, until they become infected with bad ideas. We each like to go to sleep at night with a full belly and a comfortable bed. We each want to feel that we have some value in our community and that our peers consider us to be good. We want to see our children grow up happy with all their limbs attached.

I don't think that there is a "race" of people who feel differently - who like to go to bed on a concrete slab with an empty stomach knowing that their neighbors think they are useless dung.

The problem is bad ideas, and bad ideas come in many shapes and sizes. Thinking you're entitled to be supported by the work of your neighbors is a bad idea. Laughing at the disabled is a bad idea. Believing that you'll be welcomed into paradise for killing people who don't worship your imaginary friend is a very bad idea.

I believe that the right to self defense exists. I think there is a difference between initiating the use of force against someone and using force to stop an agressor. I think that the person responsible for the wounds an agressor receives is the agressor. He invited those wounds when he decided to initiate force against someone else.

I really do believe that there are some wonderful people living in Afganistan, Iran, and Iraq who are kind and compassionate and thoughtful - people who would be a delight to know. People don't pick their place of birth or the century they're born into. I would not wish suffering on any such people anywhere.

I believe that there are some good people living in Afganistan, Iran, and Iraq who have some bad ideas. I think there are some good people in Alabama, Arkansas and New York who have some bad ideas. In New York, his name might be "Archie Bunker. In Iran his name might be "Muhammed al Hazared." As long as all he does is think his bad ideas, I say live and let live, because where there is life there is hope. Hope of change. Hope that bad ideas will give way to better ideas. Education can eliminate bad ideas.

Terrorist agressors need to die.

I think the US and other civilized nations must declare war on terrrorism. Not just terrorism perpetrated by Isalmic Fundamentalists, but terrorism perpetrated by anyone ANYWHERE.

Go get Osama bin Laden. Go get the Irish Republican Army. Go get the PLO. Go get the Basque separatists. Go get the millitant Quebeqois. Go get the Ku Klux Klan. Go get the machete weilding butchers in Africa. Go get the abortion bombers. Go get the Timothy McVey's. Go get the Unabombers. Go get the gangs who murder gays. Go get the militant Earth First-ers.

Wait for "Kingdom come"? I think that's a BAD IDEA.

reports are coming in (bbc) of tracer fire and explosions in kabul, afghanistan.. this is of course wher osama bin laden is holed up - have the fbi/cia managed to successfully pin this atrocity on him already?.

Afganistan has been engaged in a civil war ever since the USSR pulled out their troops. Yesterday Taliban attacked the civil opposition forces and today they counterattacked.

If and when the US becomes convinced that Osama bin Laden is the person behind this, I hope the US doesn't waste time bombing oil refineries and inconveniencing the good people of Kabul. (Yes, there are GOOD people in Afganistan, as witnesses by the fact of the civil war.)It would be nice if we could have Osama's head on a pike, but if we have to settle for dropping a few daisycutters, F-A-Bs or thermobaric bombs down his murderoous throat, so be it.

Watchtower Article Titles We'll Never See

i saw redhorsewoman's thread title, "the time is at hand", and knew why she picked it: because the society uses that phrase all the time (or used to when i was in, anyway... i'm betting they still do).

it reminded me of a district assembly part from along about 1983 called "now is the time" (can any of you brighter types guess which song they chose to accompany it?).

this got me to thinking of how the society has these pet phrases they use over and over again, often featuring them in some thinly reworked format (like going from "now is the time" to "the time is at hand") as article titles.
